Music Monday: Empty Vegas
So when I first heard this song, it sounded like The Weeknd (pronounced as if it were spelled Weekend, as opposed to Weakened) had gotten into his dad’s stash of 80s synths and drum machines. Didn’t realize at the time it was the video with an empty Fremont Street in Vegas — among other locations. Makes it eerily prescient.
Music Monday: Key and Peele
I have a big soft spot for goofy comedy. Key and Peele have a tendency to crash right into that soft spot. And they do a nice job of pointing out dog-whistles in this one, if ya know what I mean.
Not Really Music Monday
A short animated feature starring Mark Hamill, Mark Hamill, Mark Hamill, and of course, Mark Hamill as himself.
Blast from the Past

Turned up on my Pandora electronic music station.
Blaster from the Past

Music Monday: Garth
So. Turns out you can add another person to the very short list of Country artists I like.
Lack of Music Monday: Antibiotic Resistance
This is a very important topic. Bacteria are evolving — yes, evolving (whether you like that term or not) — faster than we are able to develop safe drugs to combat them. This is one of several things I deal with at work every single day.
Music Monday: Engulfed Cathedral
Last week in Thailand, a temple complex re-emerged from the depths. A dam put it underwater decades ago. A drought brought it back. Insert comment about global warming here if you’d like.
In honor of this event, I present one of my mother’s favorite pieces of music, Debussy’s Engulfed Cathedral.
