Point, Counter-Point

Remember when we were told that only a good guy with a gun could stop a bad guy with a gun?

Last week, a good guy with a grain of common sense but no gun stopped a bad guy with a gun.

Yesterday, a good guy with a concealed carry license was killed by two cop-killing bad guys with guns. Instead of saving the day, he lost his life. Unfortunately this was local news for me. Oh and it’s off topic, but by the way? If you are ever trying to describe a northern section of Las Vegas, do not simply call it North Las Vegas. That’s someplace else.

Now that we’ve debunked that, what’s the real argument for carrying guns everywhere you go?

In Closing: Sure, we can serve up some more fun and interesting NSA, spying, and Snowden, and related links for you; can your smart TV be hacked?; a big leap for genetic engineering; another missive from the Duhpartment of Research; times have changed (or at least prices have); question everything; hope and change; and can anybody explain how these numbers are cost effective?

  1. That’s downright unfair and disrespectful to the brave gentleman that stood up to the TWO sick f*#@’s that shot the cops.

He risked his life to stop the first criminal and was killed from behind by the criminal’s psycho-wife.

Encountering resistance most certainly slowed those two freaks from more mayhem and accelerated the events to the point where Sicko-A and Sicko-B had planned to kill themselves.

It is apparent in MANY of these like shootings that the perpetrators stop and kill THEMSELVES at the moment they encounter LIKE FORCE.

So, yeah, a good guy with a gun, was instrumental in stopping the criminals from further destruction of innocent life.

  2. I appreciate that point of view. Apparently he was just long enough of a distraction for more Real Cops to arrive. When the 2 jackasses realized they were not getting out of WalMart alive, they turned to plan B: Murder-Suicide.

    Here’s more.

  3. Its more than “just realizing they weren’t going to get out alive…”

Many of these guys, the isla vista whack-job, the Virginia Tech loon, etc etc take their lives in the face of any kind of actual resistance. It’s seems to be a common thread these days. Akin to “death-by-cop” but they take their own lives. WTF? Why not just skip step-A (killing everyone around you) and go to the suicide part?

Here’s yet another of the countless “good-guys-with-guns” stopping the violent acts (regardless of weapon) of a criminal/criminally-insane attacker:

Thank goodness for Mom-n’-Dad with guns!

  4. It’s a dreadfully sad thing isn’t it? I wonder if the news shows aren’t exacerbating the problem inadvertently. There might be some nutcase out there trying to get his 15 minutes of fame and this might push them over the edge. As to the ‘armed and dangerous’ gun carriers here in Texas. Yes, it is their constitutional right. Yes they have permits, and are ‘supposed to’ be okay psychologically. God, how I hope they are. But what sticks in my head is this. Do you have to flash your weapon in public to show your manly qualities? That concerns me a LOT. If that’s the only way you have to prove you’re a MAN, you aren’t much of one in my book. Sorry, dude.
