Compare and Contrast

Over the weekend, the people who brought us TaintedEggs™ said that anybody who got sick? It was their own damn fault. Yes, that’s right, it’s our fault for enjoying eggs over easy, Hollandaise sauce, and Caesar Salads. These aren’t your grandmother’s farm fresh eggs, sweetie! Treat them like toxic waste that must be incinerated to be healthy!

Today the FDA pointed out that maybe, just maybe, letting 8 foot tall piles of chicken poop accumulate and having rats around might be part of the problem. I wonder how long until they find a way to make that our fault too.

In closing: it‘s still the economy, stupid; and giant raptor.

  1. urp! I had been adding a raw egg to my (several times per week) morning protein drink for the last thirty three years until cholestrol levels forced a dietary moderation of EVERYTHING. Now, the addition of the egg is more like a once weekly ‘treat.’

Immune? or lucky? What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger, eh?

  2. You do know that dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol are different, right?

I know this article gets kinda technical, but eating eggs daily in the context of a reduced calorie, controlled carbohydrate diet raises “good cholesterol” and reducing the risk of metabolic syndrome: http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/reprint/138/2/272

My protein shake usually has a banana and some berries in it.

I will continue buying eggs from reliable sources and enjoying my Caesar salads and runny egg yolks! Sites like Mark’s Daily Apple can pontificate on about how our ancestors had gut flora that good kick the pants off of food borne illness.
